Dog Friendly Weddings - Top Tips

So you would love to have your dog at your wedding? Here are our top tips for a super dog-friendly wedding day.

Auntie Emma & Uncle Ade - Top KEY CONSIDERATIONS for planning a Dog Friendly Wedding

1. Check Your Wedding Venue is Dog Friendly

You’ve decided your dog must be part of your wedding, now it’s time to find the perfect dog-friendly venue! If you’ve already booked your venue, double-check any restrictions about where your dog can go. Having space for your dog to walk and a quiet retreat (like a dog-friendly hotel room or onsite cottage) is essential.
We’re proud to be recommended suppliers for over 50 dog-friendly venues.

2. Find a Dog-Loving Photographer/Videographer/Content Creator

Choose a Photographer/Videographer/Content Creator who understands your plans and loves dogs. Share your vision for photos with your dog, whether it’s candid moments, group shots, or special roles like flower dog or ring bearer. As part of our chaperone service, we liaise closely with your Photographer /Videographer/Content Creator to ensure your dog’s involvement is seamless and captured perfectly.

3. Consider Your Dog’s Temperament and Role

Your dog could be the ring bearer, a VIP guest, flower dog, or walk down the aisle with your wedding party, but it’s important their temperament suits the role. Some dogs may feel nervous or overwhelmed.

We offer a Wedding Day Pet Sitting Service as a great alternative if your dog prefers a quieter experience or can’t attend the ceremony.

4. Invest in a Professional Dog Chaperone

Our Wedding Dog Chaperone service plans, coordinates, and takes the stress off your shoulders on the big day. It’s in high demand with bookings for 2025, 2026, and beyond, so book early! Your package includes a pre-wedding familiarisation session so your dog is comfortable with us well before the wedding. Additional sessions can be arranged as needed.

5. Choose an Epic Outfit for Your Dog

Whether it’s a flower collar or tuxedo harness, ensure your dog’s attire is safe, comfortable, and well-fitted. We work with the UK’s top wedding attire makers and can help with recommendations. Artificial flower collars tend to be sturdier and safer than real ones, especially for active roles like ring bearer. Remember, some flowers and foliage are toxic to dogs, check carefully or opt for artificial blooms.

See our guide: “10 Wedding Flowers Safe for Your Dog.” below.

6. Let Your Guests Know

Mentioning your dog’s attendance on your invitations or wedding website helps guests prepare, especially those who might be nervous or allergic. If your dog is a surprise guest or ring bearer, consider discreetly informing only anxious guests to keep the magic alive!
