So you would love to have your dog at your wedding? Here are our top tips for a super dog-friendly wedding day.
1. Check your wedding venue is dog friendly.
You’ve definitely decided you would love your dog to be a part of your wedding, you can now start searching for a dream dog-friendly wedding venue. If you have already booked your wedding venue, please check if there are any venue restrictions to where your dog can and can’t go!
Having space for your dog to have a walk around the venue grounds during the day is useful, as well as somewhere for them to go if it gets too loud or busy i.e a dog friendly hotel room or onsite cottage.
We are proud to be recommended supplier for 50+ dog friendly venues.

2. Find a dog-loving photographer / videographer.
Whoever you choose, make sure to let them know what your plans are for having your dog at your wedding and what type of photographs you wish to have with your dog.
As part of our chaperone service, we always liaise with the photographer / videographer on the day and explain the dog’s roles throughout the day and confirm with them, certain specific photographs which have been requested by the couple i.e the flower dog bouquet photograph or included in the group or couple portrait shots.
3. Consider your dog's temperament and what their roles might be.
There are so many ways you can involve your dog at your wedding - they could be your ring bearer, VIP guest or flower dog. They could even walk down the aisle with a member of your wedding party but please ensure that your dog has the right temperament to cope with all the attention.
Here at Precious Pets Weddings, we understand that when it comes to your wedding day, there are often circumstances which may dictate whether your dog can attend your wedding or not – e.g. very nervous temperament, elderly age. We have a Wedding Day Pet Sitting Service option available, which is great alternative to our Wedding Dog Chaperone Service.
4. Invest in a Dog Chaperone.
A dog chaperone service like us, will plan, coordinate, and take all the stresses on your wedding day. Our chaperone service is very much in demand, with couples booking our service for 2025, 2026 and beyond so please book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Our Wedding Dog Chaperone package includes a pre wedding familiarisations session as standard. It is so important; that we all get to know each other and your dog is comfortable with us as their chaperones.
Additional sessions can we arranged as required prior to your wedding day.
5. Choose them an epic outfit!
If you are considering a special dog wedding flower collar or tuxedo harness, make sure that it is safe, made to fit and comfortable for your dog.
We work alongside 10 of the top wedding attire makers in the UK and we are always on hand to assist with recommendations. In our experience artificial flower collars are much more practical than real flower collars and are much sturdier if you they are being used in difference roles i.e on the dog as they perform their ring bearer duties and a part of the wedding photographs.
Certain flowers or foliage can be poisonous to dogs, so it is vital to check or as we have said consider artificial flowers. See our guide below "10 Wedding Flowers that are safe for your dog on your wedding day”.
6. Finally, let your guests know...
A simple note on your invitations or wedding website, or just telling your guests that you plan to have your dog with you at your wedding means that they come prepared, especially if someone is nervous around dogs or allergic to them. However, if your dog is a surprise guest or ring bearer it may be advisable that you make only the nervous / anxious guests aware!
We have collaborated with some of the best Wedding Dog Attire / Dog Attire companies in the UK, here are our top recommendations.
